Question by Sandy: What to look for when buying archery equipment?
I gave it a try this weekend and I really like it, I actually want to ask my parents for archery equipment for christmas. What exactly is it that I need to look for in a bow and arrows? Do arrows come with arrowheads or do you have to buy them? What’s the difference between using a compound bow and a normal bow?

Translation of “cota” from Spanish to English?

Question by Rosario C: Translation of “cota” from Spanish to English?
In technical drawings, you indicate the dimension you expect to have between two points, usually over a line with arrow endings (la cota del plano). Then, you could measure that, in real life, and obtain a different number (la medida real no se corresponde con la cota del plano). How would you call each of those?

Tranlation sites give “level” for cota, which I would use for the height of a peak, but not really this case…
Note:
- I need it for an engineering drawing, not the geographical version, I mean. So “elevation” is not right in this case. I need the technical words for “cota” and for “medida” (real), so I can properly discuss differences between the drawings and the real measurements.

- pshacker, cota does not even exist in http://www.spanishdict.com/ …
Sorry I wasn’t clear, I would like the English words, Spanish is my first language…
- So, Daniel, would “dimension” be the number you write over the cota or “dimension line” in a drawing?? If you were to discuss what the drawing said vs what you really got, would you say the “dimension” said 5 but the “measurement” is 6, for example??
Thanks so much !!!

“Cota” can mean “level”, but in a geographical sense it means “elevation”, which I think suits your needs much better! icon smile Translation of cota from Spanish to English?
